INTRODUCTION

Imagine our building so clean,we wouldn't even want to throw a pin on the path, imagine the feeling of being surrounded by trees, just so that even looking at them has a therapeutic effect on us,imagine that we don't depend on plastic anymore, such that we can count ourselves as the people, rather, responsible citizens who are doing their bit for making this planet a better place to live.Sounds nice, doesn't it?
Thinking on these lines,Mrs.Aruna(S9,'A') decided that maybe she could actually implement ideas so that the vision stated above would not be far from reality, and with the co-operation of the residents, she decided to launch a campaign called "Green Brindavan".

And so,on the 6th of september,we held a meeting at her place and the meeting was attended by few of the A,B,C block residents. It was an introductory session where everybody presented brainstorming ideas about what could be done to acheive our goal.It was an extremely interactive gathering where everybody put forth their ideas and plans about how we could save the environment and make our building a cleaner, greener and a better place to live.

Some of the ideas which came forward were :
1.Avoiding plastic-either use paper bags or carry a cloth bag which can be conviniently carried in everybody's bag and which can be used for shopping.
2.Don't use plastic bags for emptying trash, use only bins.
3.For parties in Brindavan,go completely organic.
4.Neem tree plantation-Plant a neem tree or a tree of your choice and do your bit.Another idea was to give the children a sapling each for adoption,in that way the children would also be interested in the campaign and would take care of 'their' plant!
5.Waste management strategy
6.Raise awareness on our immediate environmental status.

We also decided to talk to the ITC so that they could advise us on the waste management strategy and accordingly,a meeting has been set up with Major Shiva Kiran,of Sukiki Exnora, affiliated to ITC who has conceded to give us ideas on zero waste management. The meeting will take place on 20th september at 4.p.m.

Looking forward to seeing everyone of you at the meeting and more after we have finished with our 'environmental education class'!!!
